probably the best built-in gps out there. i love the crisp, clear graphics of the maps, the ease of using it, the smooth interface. i don’t like some of the mapping functions, like the “ghost” lane that appears for one lane on the road, but it doesn’t “do” speed limits well, and can be misleading. this gps is also a little stingy with data usage, notifying you that you have only 15mb of free data, yet it still allows you to download maps for about an hour. if you have unlimited data, it doesn’t get in your way.
the maps are crisp, clear, and easy to navigate. you can choose to save your route to a list of favourite locations, or it will be there in the background. the $60 or so you have to pay for this is well-spent, since you won’t use it in a year. good for casual cruising, but not quick city driving.
street view is amazing – we did not need a single aerial photo to figure out which way to turn. this allows you to not only see a streets layout, but also what buildings are on which side of the street. finding our house in the old town square in regensburg was easy, and locating the overpriced specialty shops was a breeze. the streets in the old town are very wide and easy to navigate, even with the 10s option. in the countryside, the roads are narrow and so the 10s option makes the best sense.
the 3d map is also good, although the streetview is somewhat limited compared to the 11. it gives you a 3d view of a street, and takes you through the buildings. navigator adds a nice 3d view of the whole town. the point is to let you feel like you are at a street level in a city youve never been to before, and that seems to work. from navigator you can also get street level views of buildings, which are not available from any of the other options.
