i think it’s safe to say that utorrent is generally safe to use. it should not run on ports other than the ones it actually uses. it’s a fantastic program and if you use it properly it should be safe to use. if you have any concerns or questions about utorrent, you can contact utorrent support and they can help you out.

utorrent, like other applications, creates a so-called trash bin directory under the %temp% directory. when a file is deleted, windows gives it a 30 day (30-day) retention time before it deletes the file forever. if you have moved your application’s trash bin directory to the root (system) level, the 30-day retention time will be applied to all files within it. so when you delete the file, it’ll immediately be gone forever. to avoid this, you can create a trash bin directory on the root level and then move the trash bin directory to %temp% for your application. it’s not necessary to do this, but it may help when dealing with the general issue of a file with a 30-day retention time being deleted by windows. for utorrent, this is where the ocsetuphlp.dll file gets deleted, and it then gets renamed to uttxxxx.tmp. the utorrent installer will also delete this file after installation (unless you manually delete it). so in order to identify this file, we need to know its name. to do this, we need to find out where the %temp% directory is on the root level. to do this, open the command prompt (type cmd in the start menu, then type cmd in the search box) and type dir /ad %temp%.

From the table it is clear that OpenCandy tries to infect a very wide range of applications. As you would expect, the Windows OS itself is not infected but it is infected with all sorts of strange applications. If you use uTorrent, you should seriously consider using a different download manager in the future. BitTorrent is a good program, but there are others as well.
