Star Fox Adventures is being slowly milked for what it is, and not because it’s one of the higher rated DS games. The lack of a main storyline is one of the main reasons. While it’s nice to have characters such as Wolf Zero, I couldn’t care less about him. This game will appeal to a niche market.
Saying that Star Fox Adventures is essentially a spin-off of the previous games simply is not true. A game that includes another side story of yours truly (an urban fox who’s best friend is the bad guy from the previous movie) is a separate story with its own unique characters, and it was fun to play through.
The multiplayer mode is a new way to play. Sure, if you have the money, you can buy the extra controllers and toys to play with your friends. But what is nice about the main game (which is not a cheap $29.99 piece of garbage), is that it will allow you to play with two (or more) people, who don’t have the controller for a second player.
If you really want to play with another friend, it’ll be like the Xbox Live play system. No, that’s not enough, they didn’t include support for the Gamecube. The system is another form of controller that comes in various sizes. Though, having the basic controller makes it feel like you actually got a game that costs several hundred dollars.
Having the two new heroes with their own special abilities gives you some variety. The two of them also include a slight personality, and often a tale as to how a villain got into helping the good guys. The villains are complete bores.
This game is not worth any of the complaints it gets. It’s a bad game, with a good story. Watch out for some of the complaints being the same as other critics, just with a different studio.
