jha: i am not saying there is no woman in the film. i think the film is very strong. i think the film also has strong characters. i think the film is more for the men than for the women. thats the kind of film it is.
chakravyuha is about the corruption in the police force. what is the role of women in this?
jha: its a comedy. it is not about corruption in the police force. it is a comedy. its a light-hearted film. if you take it seriously, you will have to go for a whole different subject. my subject is corruption, and i have written it with a sense of humour.
chakravyuha is a film about the pathan community in jammu and kashmir, and the difficulties they face because of the bsp government. what role does the bsp play in the story?
jha: i dont want to get into political stuff. this is a film about corruption. i dont know why, but this film is not about the bsp government. its a film about corruption. i dont want to get into politics. i am not an activist. this is my first film and i am doing my first film. i want to focus on the storyline.
what is the role of the women in your film?
jha: the women are supporting characters. they are not leading characters. they are supporting characters.
the last time i saw a hindi version of braveheart was about six years ago. several changes have happened in the six years. just when i liked bravehearts english version, it was about to get a hindi remake. so i didn’t watch the hindi version. i watched the english version instead. i was quite surprised to see so many changes in the hindi version that were not present in the english version. the costumes are different. even the landscape and faces, the credits are different. that’s the problem. you make a movie for the fans and you expect them to fall in love with the film. there is some of this kind of sentiment in chakravyuh, but it is not enough to bring the film to life. audiences expect a blockbuster action movie and chakravyuh doesnt have the scale that most action movies have. as a result, the film never really achieves the impact of the kind of blockbuster movies that are usually expected out of a bollywood movie. its not a failure, but it is one of those movies that does not quite live up to the expectations. when the film is so unfamiliar that audience is not really sure what to make of it, then what is the point of writing an article? but a disclaimer is needed, i am a big fan of khanna and the film is totally the opposite of his style. his performances in hum dil de chuke sanam, mera pasand, black, arjun etc never fail to excite me. when it comes to his new film, chakravyuh, his performances are not too convincing. after listening to khanna’s acting for a few days, what i noticed was that he performed without emotion. he didn’t move in a realistic fashion, as if he was hitting buttons to come up with some lines. he had a “checklist” of clichés that he stuck to. but these are fine things if all you want to do is perform at the level of ham. but the problem with khanna is that he thinks that every word that falls out of his mouth should be a hammy line. he does not try to be cute or be ludicrous or funny, he is very earnest. so some moments in the film are not convincing because he is not buying it. 5ec8ef588b
