The Pixel Game Maker MV was one of the most powerful and biggest VIs of its time, and the sequel to the pixel visual studio used by the Sega genesis.
It is considered a bit of a legend, and yes it has been a long time since the original version. Still i’ll try to make a short guide on how to use the game maker with the most recent version, GMS 2.15.
At the beginning, GIM will always ask if you want to run or save when opening a new project, because GIM now is able to make a lot of things automatically by automatically analyzing your resources, placing it’s created files in the proper place and opening the finished project – without waste of time.

The way to go is:
1. Download GIM, GMS2 and the resources you plan to use.
2. Run GIM and open a new vista. (Modify GIM’s preferences)
3. Create a new project (including beginning your script / game engine / etc.)
4. Save it on your disk and name it.
5. Open GIM and click the prompt for “Save the game”.
6. Accept the options from GIM and save.
(Check your own antivirus app because the.exe is not executable at first)
The steps above still open a simple window with only a progress bar, but after a while you’ll be able to see what your project actually looks like.
You’ll be able to edit it “live” so you can really get a real sense of what your game looks like before you actually save it.
