When the boy (Daniel Toschi) asks her to recite the Hail Mary with him, the girl suddenly grows agitated, the child she is talking to reciting the prayer before her. Miranda screams. In an attempt to make her mother and father react to her scream, she follows a path into the dark where she encounters an old man who turns out to be a priest with fur on top of his head and a tassel on his beret. The priest walks with Miranda into the darkness through an elaborate maze of twisting hallways until they arrive at the stage in what seems to be a theater. Onstage, everyone applauds the priest for completing his task. Miranda sees the father holding the little boy (Richard Farnsworth) by the throat and the boy choking the priest.
