selectpdf is, as you can tell, a much more bare bones and simpler library with a one time fee. i have always been skeptical of paid libraries for this reason. i prefer to pay a one time fee, learn how it works, and then move on if the pricing model doesn’t fit my needs.
i keep seeing this one recommended, and even saw an attempt at a rust rewrite. if you just grab this and start coding, the above pdfsharp wont work because the core library does not implement the classes it needs. i would recommend a few things like using these references that allow you to work around it and still get things done: https://github.com/zamasite/pdfsharp2codecsharp, but this is not the solution. oh and an old comment that this is a scam/fake/spam site: https://www.reddit.com/r/pdfsharp/comments/dei0hq/ironpdf_541_july_2019_working_key/. oh great, im sure itll be helpful
up front, this project is horrible. is there anything that i have to look forward to. so you have to sign up on their website, and then buy a license, and then you download the binary. then you hit it with a ton of weird problems. the license is somewhat transactional, so you have to buy a license and then they will give you the license key. and when using that license key, you have to hit their website.
so your selling this to some company that wants to export pdfs to their website. you give them the license to export. they then add a license key to their website. i then use it on their website. it doesnt work. you have no way of knowing if your license has expired. i dont know what the problem is, i never got a response from their support, etc. it doesnt work, you delete the license key. they then send you a replacement key. i then use the new license. you delete the license key. you go into their website and remove the new license. you get a email that your license is no longer in use. you have to buy a new license.
